Mary families often take the time to de-clutter prior to a move. Cleaning our junk drawers galore and you find...blue painter's tape. DON'T TOSS IT! You may think, 'My new home will be freshly painted. I won't need this for a while.' But, I consider blue tape to be one of the most helpful moving tools. If you're thrifty like me, you'll hopefully be just as excited to find a new use for this everyday household item.

🧠 Smart Packing = Smooth Moving: Tips from the Pros at Charming Movers

At Charming Movers, we know that a little prep work goes a long way when it comes to move day. That’s why we’re sharing one of our favorite pro tips to make your move easier, faster, and more organized—for everyone involved.

🎨 Use Painter’s Tape to Cut Confusion

Want to make sure only the right items get loaded onto the truck? Grab a roll of blue painter’s tape and try this simple, effective labeling system:

  • If MOST items are not going, mark what is going with blue tape and write YES on it.

  • If MOST items are going, mark what’s not going with blue tape and write NO on it.

  • Sending things to donation or the dump? Use green painter’s tape and label those items clearly with DONATE or TRASH.

This simple system avoids last-minute questions, wrong-load mishaps, and time-consuming second guesses.

📦 More Tips to Get Move-Ready

  • Pack like items together, label your boxes on the top and at least one side.

  • Disassemble furniture ahead of time if you’re comfortable doing so—especially beds. Disassembly and reassembly is included in all moves with Charming Movers, but if you are interested in saving time and therefore money, this can help.

  • Clear pathways inside and outside your home for easy access.

  • Separate items that aren’t part of the move when possible, and make sure the crew knows about them before loading begins.

  • Make sure someone 18+ is present during the move who can make decisions if needed.

✅ Move Day Readiness: Help Us Help You

At Charming Movers, we’re grateful for the opportunity to serve you. A smooth move starts with a little shared preparation. Please review these key readiness reminders so we can give you the best experience possible:

  • Propped Doors & Clear Access: Have all interior and exterior doors propped open before the crew arrives to speed up loading.

  • Hand Soap & Water: Please provide a basic hand soap and make sure water is available for the crew—especially during warm weather.

  • Box It Up: Loose items slow down a move. Anything that can be boxed, should be boxed.

  • Safety First: Keep pets and children secured away from the moving paths. It is ideal for a trusted friend or family to care for any pets and small children for the duration of the move.

  • Walk-Through Required: You are responsible for a final walkthrough of the property before we leave to ensure nothing is left behind.

  • Restricted Items: We do not move gas cans, propane tanks, motor oil, paint, perishables, or any other flammable materials. We also do not transport jewelry, firearms, coin/stamp collections, or other high-value personal items. Cable boxes and remotes are your responsibility—please plan accordingly.
