Before we come to your home:

Make room available for the truck and crew. Relay special instructions to drivers before move begins Please note that we cannot take items that have:

  • Corrosives
  • Flammables
  • Combustibles
  • Gasolines
  • Oils
  • Ignitable/matches

    • Defrost refrigators and freezers 24 hours prior to move
    • Please power down computer

There are lots of steps to getting ready for the MOVERS; that has nothing to do with actual packing. Here are some tips to make the job easier.

THINGS TO DO BEFORE ACTUAL MOVING DAY:

  • Get rid of everything...well may not everything, but try to eliminate items that are unused and unnecessary. That means less to pack. You might want to start this about 60 days before you moving date. Use a professional organization business if you really need help.
  • Schedule your donation pick up day. Goodwill will pick up your unwanted firniture and long with other donations. This will save you time and trips in your car delivering all the items you need to donate.
  • If you are planning a Yard or Garage Sale - set aside all those items in a separate area or room. There are websites that you might want to try for selling furniture that you can't take with you; like CraigsList or AptDecor. Ebay is a bet for other sellable items.
  • SEVERAL DAYS TO A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE MOVING DAY:

  • Plan your route - to your new location and be sure that the moving company has a copy or the link to the GPS guide.
  • Forward your mail - notify USPS of your upcoming change of address. All you have to do is go to USPS.com and choose the date you wish to begin forwarding your snail mail.   • Save all moving receipts - Save all moving receipts for three reasons: First, By donating your things to a Goodwill or Habitat for Humanity, you may be able to deduct a portion of the value of these donations against your income tax. Second, if you’re relocating for work, you may be able to deduct moving expenses from your taxes come tax season.
  • Notify utility companies - Unless you want to walk into a house with no electricity, I suggest notifying the new utility companies of your upcoming move. This way you’ll have all utilities up and running within the first week of moving in. You’ll also need to call your current utility companies to make sure your cable, electricity and gas are turned off the day after you move out.
  • School - Moving with school-age children? It’s never too early to start thinking about schools in the new town. Your new community will probably have a hometown webstie that will help you learn about the new schools or private schools.
